If The Cubs Pick Up Jake Peavy…?

Would they have the best rotation in the MLB. Considering they keep the rest of their starters, here would be the 5 man rotation:
Peavy
Zambrano
Dempster
Harden
Lilly

  1. They would have an awsome rotation. I would consider that rotation in the top 2, but if the Red Sox sign Sabathia, Burnett, or Lowe I think they would have the best rotation in Baseball which is why they are in the playoffs everyyear and have 2 world series rings in the last 6 years.
    C.C. Sabathia/A.J. Burnett/Derek Lowe
    Josh Beckett
    John Lester
    Dice K
    Justin Masterson
Or even the Yankees Rotation if they sign Sabathia and Burnett or Lowe which I think they will.
    Sabathia
    Wang
    Chamberlain
    Burnett/Lowe
    Pettite-re-sign
As long as Cubs fans dont claim at the beginning of next season ”The cubs will win the world series”, they have a chance.

  2. I don’t think the Chicago Cubs will get Jake Peavy, I believe that he will stay with the Padres. Last year, there was all the talk about a possible trade to bring Brian Roberts to the North Side of Chicago, but it didn’t happen. And he spent the whole 2008 season with the Baltimore Orioles. Even through yeah, they did get Fukudome, but look what happened with him, turns the middle of the season, look what happened to him, and he didn’t end his rookie year with the Chicago Cubs like he started.

  3. They will have the best rotation in last decade if they land Peavy. I do wonder if there might cause some turmoil in the clubhouse as they have 4 guys that could be an ace on any team in the league. Back to the question, they will have the best rotation in the league, unless another team tops them in free agency.

  4. EVen if the cubbies traded for peavy, theyd have to free up room on their payroll for his $11 mil a year contract. Either in the trade that brings peavy or in a different traade theyd get rid of one of the starters

  5. Hard to argue with 2+ number one starters! And Dempster is a 2 and Lilly a 3-4. Definitely the best by what they should produce, however, Chicago finds a way to screw it up every year!

  6. Of course, I would have high expectations in the regular season, but we all know the post season matters the most, I think with that rotation they can do it given that they stay healthy.

  7. IF they did, yes. But with just about anyone else, no.
    Angels:
    Lackey
    Santana
    Saunders
    Weaver
    Someone else/Escobar
Sub in Escobar for Weaver and get another decent starter and I’d call that the best rotation.

  8. Yes, but Harden is often injured, and Lilly is not spectacular – wait and see where Sabathia, Sheets, Lowe and Burnett end up before crowning the Cubs

  9. well they would unless the giants pick up cc sabthathia.
    their rotation would be this
    Lincecum
    Sabathia
    cain
    zito
    lowry

  10. Maybe on paper, but you saw how that went in this past postseason.
If the Red Sox were to get Derek Lowe or another good free agent pitcher, they would be pretty stacked.
    Beckett
    Lester
    Lowe
    Dice-K
    Wakefield

  11. They would be the best.

  12. Um… I kinda have to say no because I am a WHITE SOX FAN! White Sox ALL THE WAY!

  13. I don’t know.
