Is Dan Haren, The Split-finger Fastballer, Now Of The Arizona Diamondbacks Really A 6 Foot-5 Inch Athlete?

He has never looked that tall to me on the mound. In addition, he was photographed next to Jake Peavy, one of the smaller pitchers in the majors at an even 6 feet, at the ‘07 All-Star Game, and Haren barely looked an inch taller. Also, in the the press conference to officially announce his recent trade to the D-backs from Oakland, Haren was clearly, if not significantly, shorter than his new manager Bob Melvin, who in his playing days was listed between 6′3″-6′4″.
We all know baseball heights are inflated, especially for pitchers, but in Haren’s case it seems like they have outdone themselves. A great pitcher though, that Haren

  3. I think haren is around 6′2. He does not look that big, esp. compared to someone like Nick Swisher, as they were both on the A’s in 2007.
    Yes, he IS listed as 6′5 now, and that to me isn’t right at all.
    Some players ARE actually the height they’re listed at, but most aren’t, and in Haren’s case, his height is greatly inflated.
