Jake Peavy To The Phillies?

I just heard the Padres are trying to trade him in the offseason.
What do you think the Phillies would have to do to get him?

    Too much. He’s an ace with a pretty short contract, has a low salary considering his talent, and he’s not a free agent for a few more years. The Phillies simply would have to give up too many good players, and when have they been anything but conservative when it comes to trades?
    On the other hand, who can afford to stand pat the season after going to the World Series? Maybe it’s time they start thinking radically. How ’bout trading Howard for Peavey? There’s ill will from his contract negotiations earlier this year, which went to arbitration, and that could spell trouble after this season when they start negotiating a long-term contract.
    He’s not a very good first baseman, either, and the Phils don’t have the luxury of a DH. Plus he’s 29 at the end of this year, and any little slowdown in his swing is going to cause a big drop in long-ball production. Not to mention that he strikes out a lot and goes through long, dry stretches.
    The Phillies have plenty of hitters to pick up the slack — Utley, Victorino, Rollins. So why not? If there’s one thing the Phillies have always been short of, it’s good pitching. That’s why it’s taken 15 years to get back to the World Series (I’m assuming they’re going to win that 4th game against the Dodgers). Let’s go for it!

    im sure the yankees would go after him as would every other big market team, i wouldnt be surprised if he replaces pedro on the mets
    the mets farm system isnt depleted, they gave up car;ps gomez and 3 other guys who have been doing bad for johan

    The Pads once again attempt to unload their talent for beans.The Phils could offer a bucket of used baseballs and the Padres would consider it.
